Who doesn't love mates rates?!
Otterbank's session series evolves as they learn more from this class, wine yeast strain, & further explore different dry hop additions. For the fourth in the series they have increased the dry hop and gone for a monster blend imported directly from the states. This tart session IPA was brewed in Dublin on our mates kit at Third Barrel. They used Belgian pilsner malt & Irish oats in the mash, & kept bitterness low in the boil kettle with pacifica hops. Fermentation started with a lactic acid producing wine yeast before finishing off with an American ale yeast & a farmers fistful of falconers flight on the dry hop.
The resulting bright yellow & hazy brew has all the tropical flavours on the tongue with grapefruit & lemon on the nose, rounded off with a lovely tart & refreshing finish.
